The idea of this project is based on the strategy of dematerialization and was conceived through the study of the structure of a collapsible drying rack.
We are a group of 6 young designers who care about the environment and strongly believe that our designer role could be of vital importance to make our world better.
Nowadays, designers can considerably reduce the environmental impact at the planning stage by paying attention to the different phases of the product cycle. Our exhibit is based on 7 A1 art boards, on display 10 hours a day for 7 days.
Our project’s strength is the extreme dematerialisation of the display module, which makes it easy for it to be transported and reassembled.
Another significant point is the substitution of the old style lighting with led lighting having considerably lower energy consumption.
The idea to use disused (recycled) car seat belts also contributes to lower the environmental impact in the pre-production and production phases, as it avoids the process to create holders for the A1 boards.
In the end, Standy is a display module which functions exactly in the same way as its predecessor but with a much lower environmental impact, so much so that we would need to produce and use 10 units of the display module Standy to achieve the same environmental impact of a lycra display module.

Dear Team, great concept, I like the folding mechanism, only problem might be that the transportation size is still relatively large, you could consider making each folding element collapsible in the middle, (check out tent structures for outdoor use or there are also laundry racks that not only fold flat but also collapse at the same time.).... thank you
love the seat belt idea :-)
